Withnail and I screening

posted by Sam Harrison on 2012-05-17

Exciting news - next Thursday 24th May we'll be hosting our own private screening of the legendary film Withnail and I. If you haven't seen the film before then I strongly suggest coming along - not just because it's a brilliant film, but also because some of the things our more experienced members say or do might make a bit more sense if you do watch it... Oh and this year's club t-shirt will also make sense! It's taking place at the Gregson Centre and we've hired out their 25-seat cinema for the evening. Come down to foyer sometime this or next week to put your name down on the list. There will be a few of us eating down there from 7pm, so show up from then onwards. Check out this brilliant website to get you in the mood for the film.

Howgills with Sir Chris Bonington

Sign ups for our week 5 Sunday trip to the Howgill Fells are open at foyer, and this week we've got legendary mountaineer (and Chancellor to Lancaster University) Sir Chris Bonington joining us. Sir Chris has many notable first ascents, including Changabang and the first British ascent of the North Face of the Eiger. He joined us on our last trip to the Howgills two years ago, and the weather was so bad that we're going again to try and get some good views! The cost is the usual £9 and you can sign up any week day at Farday foyer between 1-2pm (or possibly outside on the grass if the weather stays this sunny!).

T-shirts and hoodies now for sale!

posted by Sam Harrison on 2012-05-16

Good news, this year's club t-shirt and hoodies are now on sale at foyer! The winning design this year (as voted for at our social a couple of weeks ago) is Imogen Fisher's "We've Gone on Holiday by Mistake", and this will be printed on the back of the t-shirts with the LUHC logo on the front.

You can pick what colour material and writing you want (there's a list available at foyer) and the sizes are standard Fruit of the Loom sizes. T-shirts cost £6.50 and hoodies £13.50 and are available to order between now and 1st June.
