Upcoming socials

posted by Sam Harrison on 2013-10-29

Sorry for the lack of updates on the website recently - things have been rather hectic here at the club! We've had a couple of fantastic (and busy) trips in the past few weeks, despite the weather doing its best to put us off. Check back soon for trip reports and photos. In the mean time, here's a bit of info about two exciting socials we've got going on in the next few weeks.

Firstly, this Wednesday (i.e. tomorrow), we have a Hallowe'en Bar Crawl. It's fancy dress time, with games and prizes! Do not expect any spooky surprises. We would never do anything to scare you... The plan is yet to be fully confirmed, however there will be a bar crawl, there will be entertaining things to do, and, of course, there will be incredible company. Keep an eye out on the Facebook event for more details.

On Tuesday 12 November, our local Mountain Rescue Team, Bowland Penine, will be coming on to campus to run an evening of activities for club members. There will be a talk from the team and many interactive activities involving the team JEEP and a rescue dog named Ted. The event will run from 7pm in Bowland North SR 23.

Also look out for more details about our ceilidh on Friday 15 November, and Ultimate Night on Thursday 21 November. As always, details can be found on our calendar.

Don't ask...

20% off night at Ultimate Outdoors

posted by Sam Harrison on 2013-10-15

This Wednesday, 16th October, Ultimate Outdoors is holding a 20% off night, solely for us and the Mountaineers. It's a great opportunity to grab some bargain gear for the winter season. The staff are always happy to give you advice about what gear to buy, so it's worth going along even if you're not sure what you want.

The event runs from 6:30-8.30pm. Please bring your yellow membership card as you might not be able to get the discount otherwise!

Check out the shop's new Facebook page here.

Bar Crawl tonight!

posted by Sam Daft on 2013-10-11

For all our new members (and of course, the old ones)... tonight is our first outing of the 2014 Michaelmas Term... and we're getting things kicked off with a BAR CRAWL!! This should give all those who are unfamiliar with Lancaster's night life the chance to get a good taste as well as introducing you all to your fellow Bimblers!!

This weekend also sees the return of the Lancaster Music Festival so we have included a few stops so that we can all experience some live music and get in the mood for what should be a fantastic year!

For those of you on campus we meet at Trevor (that's the Furness Bar just off the Furness Foyer) at 7pm... or if you can't make that just head to the Bus Underpass for 7.30pm where our own Xanthe Raan will be leading you into town! If you're already there then Sam 'Dafty' Daft will see in the White Cross Pub (the lovely one on the canal) at 8pm! Feel free to drop us a message if you need some more specific directions.

From there we will be cruising through Revolutions, the Penny Bank, The Tap House, Dalton Rooms and the Stonewell Tavern before splitting those who want to go all night from those who want to wind down. Either way, some of us will lead you to The John O' Gaunt and The Pub. Both will be playing more live music...or you could opt to head for Glow Rooms, and on to the other clubs until the sun rises!

So come along to experience some of the great music and finest alcohol that Lancaster has to offer, and kick off the year the right way!!

See you there!
