Weekend Trip: Glencoe

   Glencoe, Western Highlands

18 November to 20 November 2016

PAST EVENT: Week 6, term 1, 2016
Cost: £40
Many of Britain's pioneering climbers had their first taste of Scotland in winter on the summits and ridges around Glencoe, and it has a place in the heart of many a person as the epitome of a mountaineer's adventure playground. The place has an air and ambience unlike anywhere else in Britain, and it's unparalleled beauty is matched only by its fierce brutality when the weather turns Scottish. If there's only one trip you'll come on this year, then make Glencoe be it.

Our term 1 trip to the valley is undoubtedly THE event of the LUHC calendar. We run the trip every year, without fail. And don't worry, if big mountains aren't your thing, then there are shorter and easier options such as the Pap of Glencoe.

We'll be camping at the Red Squirrel campsite, just down the road from the pub. In the evenings we will retire to the legendary Clachaig Inn, where fine ales and wine, delectable whiskey and good music are aplenty.

There will most likely be snow on the ground, and so if you'd like to come out above the snowline with us then take a look at our winter walking guide. If you're new to camping, then we have another handy guide with invaluable hints and tips.
