What to Bring

All advice on this page is season and weather dependent. Please use your own common sense when packing for trips and don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.

As a bare minimum, we require that you bring the following on any LUHC trip:

  • Walking boots with proper ankle support (no walking shoes)

  • Extra warm layers, typically non-cotton thermals to wear underneath trousers and top
  • A headtorch (winter months)
  • A pair of gloves

  • Plenty to eat, including lunch

For weekend trips, in addition to the above, you’ll need:

  • A sleeping bag (unless staying in a bunkhouse with beds)
  • Headtorch
  • 2 × breakfasts
  • 2 × lunches (for during hikes)
  • 1 × evening meal
  • As much extra food as you need
  • Cutlery and a bowl or plate

  • Medication if needed

We additionally recommend the following items for most trips:

  • A pair of hiking socks
  • A hat and scarf or buff
  • A waterproof cover for your rucksack
  • A waterproof bag in which to keep any valuables
  • Batteries/charger for your headtorch
